IGA, Australia’s largest independent supermarket chain, has revolutionised loyalty programs with the launch of IGA Rewards Cash Back. Unlike traditional points systems, shoppers earn real IGA Cash Back on participating items, which can be used to save on their weekly shop. Once $20 IGA Cash is accumulated, members unlock a Digital Visa IGA Rewards Card to redeem their rewards at participating stores. This program reflects IGA’s commitment to delivering genuine value to local communities, with 65% of Aussies preferring cash back over points, according to the ALA Annual Loyalty Insights Report 2024.
To celebrate the launch, IGA is hosting the $100K Local Pay Day at Ashcroft’s IGA Erskine Park on Thursday, 18th September. Shoppers can sign up or link their IGA Rewards card via the app for a chance to win cash back prizes ranging from $100 to $4,000. Existing members must download the app and connect their card, while new members can sign up at www.igarewards.com.au/download. The event is open to NSW residents aged 18+, and rewards will be added to members’ digital wallets within 48 hours. For those unable to attend, there’s still a chance to win one of ten $1,000 cash back prizes by shopping and scanning their IGA Rewards card between 18th-24th September.
IGA Rewards offers immediate benefits, with members able to earn $20 IGA Cash Back in just one shop during launch week. Hot deals include $5 cash back on Baby Boo Nappies 40-56pk (RRP $11.50), $12.80 on Purina ONE Dry Cat Food 3KG (RRP $32.00), and $3.50 on 1L Connoisseur Ice Cream (RRP $12.00 and on special for $9.00).
Members also receive personalised weekly offers and automated entry into prize draws, making the program simple, local, and rewarding. Tobacco, lottery products, stamps, and gift cards are excluded from cash back eligibility.
Grant Ramage, CEO of Metcash Food, emphasised the simplicity of IGA Rewards, stating, “No confusing points, no hoops to jump through. Just real, easy-to-use rewards that deliver genuine value.” Brad Halls, Manager of Ashcroft’s IGA Erskine Park, added, “Giving $100,000 back to our local shoppers in one day is something special. It’s our way of saying thank you to the locals who support us like family and friends.”
IGA’s network of over 1,300 independently owned stores is dedicated to serving local communities with tailored offerings, from everyday essentials to unique products. The enhanced IGA Rewards program aligns with this mission, providing real rewards that help shoppers save on their weekly budget while supporting independent businesses across Australia.
