Victorian Digital Licences are now available to learner and probationary (P-plate) drivers as of 19 November 2024, completing the rollout following its introduction for full licence holders earlier this year. This means learners, P-platers, and full licence holders can present their Digital Driver Licence as a legal form of identification.
What You Need to Know
- Physical licences will continue to be issued for all Victorian drivers and can continue to be used for identification purposes – the digital driver licence is optional.
- Some drivers, including learners and p-platers, are legally required to carry their physical licence card when driving.
- To verify a Digital Driver Licence:
- Ask the customer to pull down on their licence screen to refresh.
- Confirm their photo matches.
- Check their licence number.
- Look for the hologram.
- Scan the QR code using the Service Victoria or myVicRoads app if further verification is needed. To check the QR code staff need to have already downloaded the Services Victoria and MyVicRoads app to their phone.
