MGA Independent Businesses Australia congratulates corporate partner Asahi Beverages on being named Metcash’s 2026 Food Supplier of the Year at the recent Metcash Food Supplier of the Year Awards held in Sydney. 

The annual awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of supplier partners who continue to support and strengthen Australia’s independent retail network. MGA is thrilled to see Asahi Beverages receive the evening’s highest honour, recognising their continued commitment to innovation, collaboration and support for independent retailers nationwide. 

In addition to taking out the prestigious Supplier of the Year award, Asahi Beverages was also recognised as Impulse Supplier of the Year for 2026. 

Hosted at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, the awards brought together leading suppliers, retailers and industry representatives to celebrate another strong year for the independent sector and the partnerships that help drive its success. 

Metcash Food CEO Grant Ramage acknowledged the important role suppliers play in supporting independent businesses across Australia.

“We would like to say a big congratulations to all of our supplier nominees and award winners. This recognition serves as a thank you for the amazing partnerships and the ongoing hard work that goes into supporting and growing the independent network,” he said.

Nigel Parsons, Chief Commercial Officer at Asahi Beverages, said the award reflected the strength of the partnership between Asahi Beverages and Metcash.
