Through our membership of the Council of Small Business Organisations Australia (COSBOA), MGA has supported a submission to the Fair Work Commission advocating for a simpler method of calculating vehicle allowances under the General Retail Industry Award (GRIA), following ongoing feedback from members about the administrative burden created by the current formula. 

MGA supports calls for a simpler, more practical approach that removes complex calculations, that make it more difficult to process reimbursements accurately and remain compliant with Award obligations. 

The Fair Work Commission is currently considering the submission, and no changes have been made to the Award at this stage. 

MGA will continue to monitor the proceedings and keep members informed. If the application is successful, we’ll provide clear guidance on any changes and what they mean for your business.
