MGA CEO Martin Stirling quoted in Michael West Media article on fuel crisis impact
MGA Independent Businesses Australia CEO Martin Stirling was quoted in a Michael West Media article today addressing concerns about potential price increases as war-induced fuel supply disruptions threaten Australian farmers and retailers.
The article examines the impact of escalating Middle East conflict on fuel supplies, with shipping disrupted through the Strait of Hormuz and regional WA service stations already imposing fuel restrictions.
Martin acknowledged that while global supply chain challenges have not yet directly impacted independent supermarkets and grocers, smaller retailers would have no choice but to pass on cost increases if the situation continues.
“Passing on price increases is a last resort,” Martin told AAP. “They absorb what they can but they’re under incredible cost pressures at the moment.”
