Victorian liquor retailers are being reminded to check the signage displayed in their licensed premises following an update to mandatory liquor signage.
Liquor Control Victoria has updated the signs that licensed venues and stores are required to display. The signs are designed to help staff and customers understand Victoria’s liquor laws and support the safe and responsible supply and service of alcohol.
What retailers need to do
If you operate a licensed venue or liquor store in Victoria, review the signs currently displayed at your premises and make sure you are using the latest versions required for your licence.
Mandatory signs must be:
- displayed in colour
- positioned where they can be easily seen by customers, such as behind the counter at eye level
- appropriate for your licence type and activities.
Liquor Control Victoria has also updated three optional posters covering:
- approved forms of identification
- liquor deliveries
- barring powers.
Avoid unnecessary fines
Displaying the correct signage is an important compliance requirement. Businesses that fail to display a required sign, or display an incorrect sign, risk a fine of more than $1,000.
