Australia’s largest construction and design event, Sydney Build Expo 2026, brought together thousands of industry professionals across two days of networking, innovation and industry discussion earlier this year.

Held at the International Convention Centre Sydney, the event attracted more than 28,000 attendees and featured over 700 exhibitors and 750 speakers across 16 conference stages focused on the future of construction, housing, sustainability, digital innovation and workforce development.

The expo showcased a broad cross-section of the built environment sector, including contractors, developers, architects, engineers, councils, suppliers and building product manufacturers. Major industry players represented included companies such as Lendlease, John Holland, Multiplex and Mirvac.

Key themes emerging from this year’s event included:

  • Housing supply and affordability
  • Modern methods of construction (MMC)
  • Sustainable and low-carbon building materials
  • AI and digital construction technologies
  • Workforce shortages and skills development
  • Construction safety and wellbeing

Of particular relevance to the timber and hardware sector was the growing focus on sustainable construction materials, prefabrication and energy-efficient building solutions, with many exhibitors showcasing innovations designed to support Australia’s housing pipeline and decarbonisation goals.

The event also highlighted increasing industry interest in AI-driven project management, digital estimating tools, automation and supply chain technologies, reflecting the sector’s ongoing shift toward smarter and more efficient building practices.

Networking remained a major feature of the expo, with dedicated events for women in construction, sustainability leaders, digital construction professionals and emerging industry talent.

According to organisers, Sydney Build 2026 recorded strong exhibitor and visitor engagement, reinforcing the event’s position as one of the construction industry’s leading business and innovation platforms in the Asia-Pacific region.
